Ice Age Adventure at Allardale Park

We went on an Ice Age Adventure today and it was SO much fun!

Medina County Park District created this adventure at Allardale Park in Granger Township. They did this by setting up signs throughout the Inner Loop Trail. Each sign talks about a different Ice Age animal and gives the kids a challenge to use their imagination by pretending to be that animal.

We walked like a Wolly Mammoth by walking on our toes. We also pounced like a Saber-Toothed Cat and walked in circles to represent a Musk Ox protecting their young!

Then, our hands became antlers so that we could walk around like a Stag Moose. My Stag Moose daughter even decided to attack me! Territorial, I guess! haha.

Activities that are always at the park are now part of the Ice Age Adventure as well, such as the “Take Shelter in a Den”. With this, you get to climb through the tunnel to pretend to be a Short-Faced Bear.

The “Perch like Birds on a Wire” activity transformed into a way to pretend you are a Giant Ground Sloth.

If you are looking for something to do with your kids, this self-guided hike is a great way to burn energy! My daughter got excited every time she saw a new sign up ahead and really had fun using her imagination as we walked through the Ice Age.

The Ice Age Adventure ends on Sunday, January 31, 2021 and Allardale Park is open daily from 6AM until dark. You can learn more about this adventure and many other program offerings on the Medina County Park District website.
