A Different Kind of Easter Egg Hunt!

posted in: Blog | 2

I’m so glad that we were able to do more events this year for Easter including a number of egg hunts! But now, I think we have enough candy to last us until next Easter! Do you feel this way too?

That’s why the Wild About Eggs self-guided hike is perfect… because it will allow your kids to look for eggs and you don’t have to worry about getting more candy!

This hike is hosted by the Medina County Park District and it is located at the Susan Hambley Nature Center.

What to Expect at the Wild About Eggs Hike

The beginning of the hike starts out with some informational signs about what kinds of animals lay eggs. Then you come to 2 signs that have pictures of eggs from 20 different animals (birds, reptiles, amphibians). The challenge is to walk the trail and find the pictures of the eggs hidden along the trail. Each egg is attached to a wooden stake.

The sign has a QR code that you can scan in order to download an Egg Hunt Checklist. I recommend downloading it so that you make sure you find them all. We missed one the first time through and had to come back a second time!

If you would prefer to print the checklist before you go, you can download the egg hunt checklist below:

I think having a paper list would be helpful for kids. My daughter used my phone to match the eggs but if she would of had a paper list, she could have checked them off as she found them.

My daughter used the checklist on my phone to match the eggs to the list when she found them!

At the end of the hike, there is another QR code to scan that allows you to download an egg coloring page! My daughter was excited about this because she got to color the page and create her own egg when we got home from the hike.

Other Details About the Hike and Park

This park is located right in the heart of Brunswick so if you want to grab lunch before your hike, you can do so and bring it to the park to eat on the picnic tables that are to the left of the building! Then, you will head to the right of the building to start the hike!

The trail walks by Brunswick Lake so there is plenty of scenery to look at along the way! We almost always see ducks, geese, and/or squirrels when we go.

This hike is along the Nature Trail and it is .65 miles. The path is not paved but it is fairly level so this hike would be suitable for little kids. My daughter is 5 and she does great!

The Wild About Eggs hike will be going on until Sunday, April 18, 2021 from open until close, daily!

If you go, be sure to tag me (@MedinaOhioMoms) in your posts on social media, I would love to see your adventures! Have Fun!!
