As we approach the New Year, I think many of us are TIRED from everything that happened in 2020.
With everything that is going on, I think stress levels are at an all-time high!
Self-care is something that is always important for us to think about but I think it is even more important this year! And we might have to get creative. Here are a few self-care ideas:
5 Self Care Ideas
- Get Outside – getting outside is the first thing I do if I am feeling overwhelmed. Going for a walk, run, or hike does wonders to lower my stress and anxiety! We are really fortunate to have amazing parks in Medina County so I do my best to enjoy them as often as possible. I know it is getting colder but bundling up and getting outside, even if just for a few minutes, is really good for me!
- Read a Book – I am a fan of listening to non-fiction books on Audible. But if I am wanting to relax – grabbing a cup of coffee or tea and a fiction book is what works best for that!
- Getting a Pedicure – I love getting pedicures and one thing I like about is that I never go alone… I always invite a friend or my mom because, to me, it is always such a fun thing to go do together and makes me forget about all the “stuff” that I was worried about!
- Grab Coffee or go Shopping with a Friend – One of my favorite things to do is meet a friend for coffee at a local coffee shop! I also enjoy taking our coffee and strolling around the local stores to browse and/or shop. These days, maybe it’s setting time to make your coffee at home and call your friend to chat!
- Watch an “old” show or a Hallmark Movie – okay, make fun of me if you want but something that makes me forget about everything is watching a show from my childhood (hello, Full House or Fuller House) or watching a Hallmark movie… particularly a Christmas movie!
Finding time for self-care can be hard but it is really important. What I have found is that it doesn’t have to be big long stretches of time… if I can grab a few minutes here and there to do something that refreshes me, it makes a big difference in my mood!
